Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue may have your perfect match at Boomers and Senors Expo!

Volunteer’s Needed!

Coco’s Heart Senior Buddies Outreach Program:

The Senior Buddies Outreach Program is a program that started in January 2013. We bring a couple of our rescued dogs twice a month to a nursing home and spend an hour giving love to residents in a memory care unit.

Who benefits?

The residents really enjoy our visits and love seeing and petting the dogs. It is also beneficial to our dogs because they get additional love and socialization.

Can I help?

If you have any questions about this program, please contact our Senior Buddies Coordinator, Alison at

Become a Foster:

Because we don’t operate a shelter, fosters are a vital part of CHDR.  We can only rescue as many dog as we have committed fosters for.  It is a sad reality that shelters euthanize hundreds of healthy and friendly animals every day to make space for the new ones coming in.  While shelters and rescues would like to save every homeless dog, this is impossible due to a lack of resources or space.  Through fosters, dogs from a variety of backgrounds are given the chance to find a new forever home. Learn more about fostering with Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue.

Donate to Coco’s Heart:

Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue is a foster-based, volunteer-driven rescue and has found loving homes for 5000+ animals since May 2010. We spent over $650,000 on veterinary expenses in 2016. Please consider making a tax deductible donation. We rely solely on the generosity of supporters, like you! Learn more about donating to Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue.

All dogs adopted out through Coco’s Heart have received:

Spay/Neuter   Each canine will be spayed/neutered before leaving the rescue and placed in a forever home. This is a very important part of the mission to do our part in preventing dog overpopulation.

Vaccines   Each canine will be up to date on rabies vaccine, distemper and parvovirus. These are essential vaccines each canine should be up to date on at all times.

Microchip   Micro chipping each canine in the rescue is a measure taken to ensure that any pet rescued through CHDR will have a less likely chance of facing homelessness or life without its family.

Heartworm Test   Each canine (age appropriate) will have an up to date negative heartworm test. This is an important preventative care measure as heartworm disease can be painful and expensive to treat.

Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue is an effort grounded in love, dedication and determination. Now a nonprofit organization, CHDR is 501 (c)3 status. State of Wisconsin licensed and inspected: 400340-DS. We rely solely on volunteers and donations to support our rescue effort.  We are based out of the Twin Cities area, where all of our dogs live in approved foster homes before going to their forever homes. We value the importance of the highest quality veterinary care and finding loving foster and forever homes for every dog that comes to Coco’s Heart.  Come meet our volunteers and dogs at our adoption events!
